A few days ago, one of my neighbors dropped a copy of the seed catalog from Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds off at my house. My initial thought was "What am I going to do with this?" I am a mediocre, often distracted, novice gardener and did not intend to start any seedlings this year, or possibly ever. My opinion changed after thumbing through the magazine though. The beautiful photographs of flowers, fruits, vegetables, and all manner of plants was a salve that I didn't know I needed in the darkness of winter. The images scream abundance and growth and optimism, a glimpse of a world that can be. I know very little about the company, but I thank them for providing me a little hope from an unexpected place.
