Why Everything Digital Feels Awful

If you're looking for a way to articulate why the Digital world feels so awful, Ed Zitron has a lot to say about the history of the world's descent into the Rot Economy and the increasing enshitification of all things Digital in Never Forgive Them. As with many of his pieces, it's a bit over the top, but I think it stands as a good reminder of how Big Tech is perfectly comfortable ruining the world to capture a few more cents of your money and as much of your time as is humanly possible.

The Gap Between Americans' Economic Reality and the Government's Economic Numbers

Discussions about the American economy, largest in the world, can elicit starkly different reactions depending who you ask. For those in the upper echelons, things are going pretty well. The stock market is up, meaning good returns on retirement accounts, housing prices remain high, which is great if you already own. For those without a portfolio and/or real estate, things look much more dire. Inflation is up and wages aren't keeping pace. It is very troubling that this glaring disconnect is not clearly represented in the many economic indicators and statistics used by lawmakers. Politico goes into detail in their article Voters Were Right About the Economy. The Data Was Wrong.
